Episode 1
Episode one starts off with everything growing dark while two black mysterious figure grows out of the floor itself and goes up in to the dark gray clouds in the sky. Then somehow, the two figures fall from the sky into our world. The two mysterious figures show them selves but very slightly. They turn out to be monsters. A butterfly flies towards the moon while a beautiful woman stands on top of a telephone pole with a view of the whole city. She senses a strong presence of in the air. Then she flies off into the city.
There is now a cut scene to day time and a young man with bright blond hair and a school uniform stands there with five other guys of which one is on the floor. The blond young man is angry because the five guys knocked over a vase put on the pavement as a tribute to a little girl that passed away there. One of the remaining boys jumps in to fight, the boy, without a once of regret, smashes his face into the pavement. For each right answer the remaining boys ask them he hits them a couple of times. The blond guy then scares them so badly that the run off into the bright sunset. The blond guy the turns around to a little ghost girl and promises her that he will bring her some flowers tomorrow. The girl can now rest peacefully.
A monologue starts and explains who the boy is after we see that the blond guy can see ghosts. His name is Kurosaki Ichigo and he is a 15-year-old high school student. It is now nighttime in the town of Kurakura. Ichigo then walks into his house and outside on top of the door the is a sight that says “Internal Medicine Pediatrics, Kurosaki Clinic.” When he walks into his house he is not greeted with a simple hello, his father greets him with a kick to the face. While they start to fist fight and arguing over how unhealthy it is for a boy of the age of 15 to have a curfew at 7 P.M. and how late Ichigo is for dinner. While they fight Ichigo’s sweet little sister, Yuzu, tries to stop them from fighting and eat at the dinner table. After a while of fighting he turns and sees a male ghost. After this he gets fed up and goes to bed. Yuzu and Karin, his other sister, explain to his father that Ichigo is under a lot of stress because he is now seeing more ghosts then ever.
The next day, Ichigo wakes up and while eating breakfast he watches the news. The reporter is covering a story on how a building mysteriously exploded. Recognizing the environment Ichigo states that the building that got destroyed is near there home. On his way to school, Ichigo passes by the ghost girl’s house to set the flowers he promised here when he hears a young girl scream. He runs towards the noise. When he gets there a giant monster is standing before him about to devour him. Just them a little black butterfly flies across his face and before he knows it the woman from the telephone pole Jumps in front of Ichigo and slices the monsters face in two. When she lands she then cuts him in half, strait down the middle. The monster disappears and the woman puts her katana back form where it came form then starts to walk away. Ichigo tries to talk to her but just ignores him and walks away.
It is the same day and now it is nighttime. Ichigo is now lying in bed thinking about what had happened that day when a butterfly flies by his window and the woman that killed the monster comes through his window. Ichigo ties to talk to her but she still ignores him and starts to go out towards the hallway when Ichigo kicks her in the head sending her across the room and hits the floor. They woman has a confused look upon her face and asks Ichigo “you can see me? You kicked me?” She starts to explain how no human is supposed to see her. She explains that he is a Death God, or, a soul reaper. She starts to talk about a place called Soul Society then the screen cuts off to the ghost girl that is being hunted by the second monster. The screen cuts off again to Ichigo bedroom. Ichigo tells the woman that he has never seen a Death God before so therefore he doesn’t believe in them. On top of saying this to her he taps her on the head (she is shorter then he is) and says that she is a little brat. Her bottom lip twitches, she pushes him away and performs a Kidoh, a binding spell, putting Ichigo in a state of paralysis. She then takes out her sword with the hilt pointing downwards and raises it up in to the air, high above her head, then she brings it down with immense force. Instead of hitting Ichigo the hilt lands on the forehead of a wondering ghost and sends him to Soul Society.
Ichigo still does not understand what a Death God is or what Soul Society so the Death God took this opportunity to illustrate her explanation about what a Death God is and what Soul Society is. In childish artwork she explains about two types of souls, pluses and hollows. Her job is to lead the pluses to Soul Society, or, heaven so they can rest in peace and to destroy all the hollows that she encounters hollows being the monster that she destroyed earlier in this episode. When she was done explaining she was ready to take serious questions from Ichigo when he asked her “why your drawings suck so badly?” She took revenge upon him by drawing a mustache on his face and the scene cuts again to the girl being hunted by the hollow. The little girl was on the ground shacking in fear of the hollow when just then he sniffs the air and realizes that there are more delicious souls nearby. He says that the soul is near a Death God. The hollow begins to walk toward this soul.
The scene cuts again to Ichigo’s bedroom. Ichigo says that he hears a howling scream that shakes every inch of his body but that Death God does not hear anything. The second scream occurs and is heard by both Ichigo and the Death God, confusing the Death God and she starts to wonder why she couldn’t hear the first scream. Just then they both hear the scream of Ichigo’s little sister, Yuzu. The Death God bursts into the hallway to see what’s happening. Yuzu collapses on the floor telling Ichigo to save Karin. Without a second thought the Death God bolts down the stairs to see that the hollow has Karin in his hand. The Death God about to fight the hollow was interrupted by Ichigo falling down the stairs. The fist thing that Ichigo sees is the Karin in the hands of the hollow and he stands up despite the kidoh and he starts to force his wrist apart. The Death God tells him to stop or his soul could be destroyed. She tells him that no human has ever broken the kidoh spell. Only thinking of his sister he tries again and breaks free in a blinding light and sprits towards the hollow with a folding chair. He is smacked into a wall like he was nothing.
The Death God rushes to his side and explain that his spiritual energy traveled to the spirit world when he came in contact with the ghost girl. Ichigo then realizes that the hollow are after him and not the Death God. He then runs in front of the hollow willing to sacrificing himself to save his sister. Just then when the hollow was about to kill Ichigo, the Death God with lightning speed takes the hit for him but she gets caught in his mouth. She then slashes the hollows upper lip and she falls to the floor seriously hurt. She realizes that she will be food for the hollow she asks Ichigo if he wants to save his family. Ichigo says yes and the Death God tells him that in order for him to do it he must take her katana and thrust it in to his heart. By doing this he will have her power but this method is untested and he might just die. Knowing the risk he willingly takes the katana and thrusts it into his heart. A flash of light comes out of his heart and when it dims, Ichigo stands there with a giant soul cutter (the katana). Rukia (former Death God) now is amazed at this boy who broke thru her spell and is now standing tall as a Death God himself.
Ichigo stands tall in front of the hollow then promises it that it will pay for hurting its family. He then jumps at the hollow cutting of his arm and then the leg. He then uses his Herculean soul cutter to spilt the hollow in two and watches it disappear into the night. Kurosaki Ichigo, 15 years old, high school student and....Death God!
